“Allow The Bible To Read You!”
There was this East African lady who was always moving with her Bible. When asked why, she replied, “I am always with my Bible because it is the only book which I read and which reads me also.”
When you hear somebody say, “that was a powerful message,” just know that the one is thinking how the message spoke against somebody else! How often do we allow the word of God to speak truth that indicts us? If the word does not speak to you, then who are you addressing?
Clergy, preachers in particular, and Christians in general, we are not signposts directing people to where we ourselves won’t go to!
Whoever cannot remove the log from his own eyes must not seek to remove the speck from another’s eye! The deceptions, the veneering of truth with shinny falsehood, the treacheries, the betrayals and threats to life of other Christians by other Christians are scary and frightening!
While the church is not a community of saints, those who constitute it must make a conscious effort to allow God’s word to speak to them!
In two verses the writer of the letter to the Hebrews states, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any doubled-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account”(4:12-13).
No darkness is dark enough to hide our deeds from God’s eyes! No flowery and cajoling language is enchanting enough that it can hide the thoughts and attitudes of the heart from the Lord!
At the end of the day everything is uncovered and laid bare before that man to whom we must give account! Nemesis is real! Nemesis is not about the netherworld; it is here and happens in our time!
Therefore my friend, allow the word of God to read you so that whatever you do, do it with the fear of God!
Prayer: Holy Spirit guide me to walk and live in the fear of God. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
