“Do Not Be Led Astray By Wrong Teaching!”
Some of the hypocritical teachings and heresies going on in our time should not take us by surprise. It had long been predicted by the Spirit that “in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceitful spirits and things taught by demons…”
That’s exactly what was happening in Ephesus where young Timothy was ministering. Under the pressure from such “hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron,” a young minister could be simply overwhelmed and forced to do the wrong thing.
Paul instructed Timothy, “If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather train yourself to be godly…For…godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come…”
Indeed, God’s children are perishing because of ignorance because young ministers snub the instructions of their mentors and fabricate their own “myths and old wives’ tales” to suit their whims and caprices! By so doing they deviate from the true path and like blind men they lead the blind and hapless flock into heresy!
The timeless truth to be embraced by you and I, whether sheep or shepherd is this “trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance”: Put your hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, and especially of those who believe”(I Tim. 4:1-10).
Dear friend, let us stick to the instructions from the word of God so that the promises of God may be fulfilled in our lives both in “the present life and the life to come!”
Prayer: Lord I have put my hope in you my Saviour. May your promise be fulfilled in my life both in the present and in the life to come. Amen!
