“When Jesus Speaks To You Don’t Argue, Simply Say, ‘Yes Lord!'”
When actions are intentionally diametrical to policies and well worded speeches, shame and disgrace become mild qualifiers how one feels. On the other hand, when policies and cajoling speeches are intentionally crafted as deceptions to intended actions, then frustration and disappointment become understatement to one’s feelings.
Words and actions seems to be most of the time so far apart from each other. Common examples are right in the home. Most parents tell naughty kids, “I’ll beat you!”, but the beating hardly accompany the threat. On ther hand, parents often use sweet words like, “Oh you did very well,” and when the child gets such confidence and forgets self, s/he is grabbed and beaten.
There are however instances when the intention is pure, but at the last minute one is not able to muster the courage and suit action to words.
This was the experience of Peter. Jesus told them that they will all fall away because it is written: “I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered…” Peter was quick to reply, “though they all fall away because of you, I will never leave you.” Even when Jesus told him that before the cock crowed that very nite, Peter will disown him three times, Peter still insisted, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” Don’t blame only Peter because “all the disciples said the same”(Mtt. 26:31-35).
We all know what happened later. The scripture was fulfilled as Jesus said it would. When the moment came, they all fled and Peter who persevered did deny Jesus three times before the cock crowed!
My friend, one big lesson I have learned for us to share is this: It is not about the decisions and big plans you have made to follow Jesus! Rather it is about listening to Jesus and what the scriptures say will happen! In God’s plan as contained in his word, “what will be will be!” All it takes is to say, “Lord speak for your servant is listening!”
When Jesus led them to Gethsemane, he told them, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray”(Mtt.26:31-35).
Prayer: Lord if it is according to the fulfilment of scriptures, let it be as you have spoken. Let me not boast to challenge what you say. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
