“The Lord Will Confuse Your Enemies!”
One African fable says there was a woman who had an only daughter whom she loved dearly. This woman was a witch. Her daughter had a friend whom she loved. One day the friend visited her and was to stay the night.
The witch told her daughter that at bedtime she should sleep behind while the friend slept infront, because she wants to kill her daughter’s friend. Since the daughter loved her friend, she didn’t want her mother to eat her friend, but the mother insisted. The girl gave up. As soon as they slept she whispered to her friend and they exchanged positions. In the middle of the night the witch did what she had vowed to do. She ate her own daughter with her witchcraft!
In the morning when she realised her mistake she cried that she had conjured rain and the rain had beaten and soaked her miserably.
A new king who did not know about Joseph came to power in Egypt and was bent on destroying the Israelites(Ex.1:8ff). His hatred was so deep that he did not heed the advice of his own warriors. This Pharaoh’s heart was hardened to such a degree that he failed to realise that by fighting Israel he was fighting against the Lord
As he pursued the Israelites to the bank of the Sea of Reeds, the Lord opened the sea for the Israelites to cross. Still Pharaoh did not read the signs of the time! He plunged into the passageway created by the Lord and the Lord released the waters of the sea again. Pharaoh’s entire army drowned and “not one of them survived.”
It is not good to be too bent on destroying somebody like the witch in our introduction or like Pharaoh. When you insist on destroying your adversaries, you may end up destroying yourself. As the saying goes, when digging a pit for your enemy don’t make it too deep as you may be the one to end up in it.
Pharaoh was so blinded with jealousy and hatred to the extent that he did not see what his people saw, nor hear what they told him. The Egyptian army realised that the Lord had thrown them into confustion. They said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.” But Pharaoh wouldn’t listen!
When the Lord is fighting for you, even those in the enemy camp will see and recognise that he is the one they are up against. They will recognise that he has thrown confusion amongst them!
My friend, are you in a covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ? If yes, do not fear the enemy! The Lord is going to throw confusion among the rank and file of the enemy. But the Pharaoh after your life would be adamant until the Lord transports you to safe shores.
