“Advent Journey Day V.”
“Redemption Is Drawing Near!”(Lk.21:25-33).
“…At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near…”
Based on life’s experience my people say “if you do not chew beans, you won’t have stomach disorders.” Well prepared beans is a delicious delicacy. In local understanding beans is “eaten,” not “chewed.” Chewables include meat, groundnuts, corn, … and fruits like guava, pineapple, sugarcane, mangoes…”
Stomach disorder-free beans meal has a careful process to follow during preparation. When it is ready, it is “eaten;” it is not “chewed.”
The proverb means that the stomach disorder is the result of not following the process of preparation. The fact that you chewed beans instead of eating it means order was not followed.
When we fail to follow laid down procedures as we await Christ at Christmas or in anticipation of his Second coming, we end up chewing the beans rather than eating the beans. And if that is the case, stomach disorder must set in.
In other words, be prepared at all times and you won’t be embarrassed if taken” unawares!
So “my own personal person” in the Lord Jesus Christ, when nations will be in anguish and perplexity, when men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, “stand up and lift your heads, because your redemption is drawing bear.”
In other words, the coming of the Messiah may be scary to those who have not stayed awake, but for you and I, these signs should rather motivate us to “look up in joy, hope and trust,” because where the guilty is scared, there is vindication for the righteous.
Therefore, rejoice for the coming of the Son of Man.
Prayer: Holy Spirit be at work in me and make me joyful at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
