“Be Good And Do Good Always!”(I Pt. 3:8-17).
“Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing…”
Gandhi once said, “an eye for an eye and half the world goes blind.” Of course, “two wrongs do not make a right.” Being good and doing good must not necessarily be in expectation of reciprocity. There are many people who, when they were thirsty we gave them cool refreshing water to drink. But then when we needed to quench our thirst, they boiled the water before giving us. Such is life.
Good people who are eager to do good should not fear that they can be harmed.
However, since humanbeings are the most unpredictable specie, good people should accept it if they suffer for doing what is right.
The wicked are afraid, so “do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened. But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.”
Bottomline: We should be good and never give up on doing good; even if we suffer for it.
Make up your mind to do good today.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit prompt us daily to do good and what is right without relenting our efforts. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
