“Going After What Matters!”(Prov. 8:12-21).
In the Old Testament wisdom is a personification of Christ as in: “The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works…I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning before the world began”(Prov. 8:22-23ff). This is to say wisdom is an attribute of God, involved with him in creation.
In later day Paul wrote, “Christ is our wisdom”
Wisdom says,“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion…”
The person with wisdom fears the LORD; and “to fear the LORD is to hate evil;” because wisdom “hates pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.”
Wisdom walks in the way of righteousness, along the path of justice, bestowing wealth on those who love him.
Bottomline is that we should fear God to become wise, because, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline”(Prov. 1:6).
The quest for wisdom is seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and thereafter everything becoming yours.
We are humbled by Wisdom when we get to that moment of realization that we are only custodians of all that we work and toil for.
My friend, may wisdom raise you to that high place of humility where it dawns on you that what you call your own belongs to God, because “the earth is the LORD’S, and everything in it…and all who live in it”(Ps. 24:1).
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me daily to pursue only the things that leads me to the kingdom of God. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
