“A Prayer For The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon!”(Ex.23:1-9).
Dear online and offline believers, let us use today’s text to pray for the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, hereafter PCC. The PCC is on the eve of (s)electing new leaders at the helm of the Church. False rumors are circulating accusing the Moderator of having constituted a list of persons whom he is imposing and threatening the pastors through Presbyterial Secretaries that those on the lists are the persons who must be nominated. Such rumors are the works of the devil. The Moderator of the PCC is the custodian of the PCC Constitution and he cannot be the one to violate it.
Our text today says, “Do not spread false reports.” We pray for the agents of the devil who are spreading such false reports that our Moderator has prepared a list and pastors are being forced to nominate only those who are on the list. The devil is a liar! Our Moderator is the custodian of the Church’s Constitution. He cannot violate the Constitution! Woe betide those who are spreading false reports!
“Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness.” We pray against those wicked persons who are malicious false witnesses tarnishing the reputation of the leader of our darling Church.
“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong.” God forbid that any qualified pastor of the PCC will follow the crowd to nominate candidates who are on the purported false lists that are circulating on social media. Whoever has concocted such lies is leading people to do wrong. Don’t follow such a crowd!
Whoever has opportunity to give testimony in a lawsuit should not pervert justice by siding with the crowd. The crowd is usually wrong. Therefore, PCC pastors, don’t follow the crowd to nominate names on a deceptive list which enemies of the Church are circulating and claiming that it is from the Moderator. The Moderator who is the custodian of the Constitution cannot constitute an unconstitutional list. Let us pray for those detractors, those agents of the devil who are rubbing the reputation of our Moderator in the mud! The devil is a liar!
Whoever is going to nominate or vote into office the Moderator and Synod Clerk, this herebelow is for you: “Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous.”
Dear PCC clergy and would be Synod Committee and Synod members, let us not give the devil the chance he is using in spoiling the name of our Moderator. Follow the procedure of (s)election according to the Constitution of the PCC and shame the devil!
Justice and mercy is what we stand for as God’s children. Help us LORD. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week. Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
