“The Unchanging Christ And The Faith Of Our Fathers!”(Heb.13:7-9a).
“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.”
The Apostles’ Creed may not have been directly formulated by the Apostles, but it is based on their teachings. The teachings of the apostles were based on their understanding of the Christ in both his humanity and divinity, according to the Scriptures.
An ordination of a minister is an apostolic transference through the laying on of hands while calling on the Holy Spirit on the ordinand.
Those who passed on the faith to us passed on what they received adinfinitum.
We are a blessed generation since the Holy Scriptures is available to everybody who wants to read and understand and interpret as the basis of faith.
The danger of the availability of the Holy Scriptures to whoever can read is that it promotes a multiplicity of faithless interpretations that propagate error and lead gullible genuine faith seekers astray.
The question Philip asked the Ethiopian eunuch and the eunuch’s response is still relevant if we must have a right exegesis.
When Philip heard the eunuch reading from the prophet Isaiah, Philip asked him, “Do you understand what you are reading?” The man answered, “How can I, unless someone explains to me?”(Acts 8:26ff).
My friend, the Lord Jesus Christ, is unchanging, and the Holy Scriptures remain as it was. But watch out because it is the root of false teachings – especially when we ignore the faith-based interpretation, beginning from the apostles through the fathers of the faith whose lifestyles corresponded to their beliefs. May the Holy Spirit teach us and direct us to true prophetic interpretations with a corresponding lifestyle so that we too may be examples for others to emulate.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, teach us to remain true to the teaching of the unchanging Christ and let the outcome of our lives he worth emulating. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
