“Healing From A Distance!”(Jn.4:43-54).
Yesterday, I went to the District hospital for a medical checkup. A Christian came and met me there and asked me whether pastors are also sick?
I didn’t want to remind him of the presence of Church hospitals and medical facilities scattered all over the world. Maybe his line of reasoning is prompted by the emphasis of the miraculous within the healing ministry related to Christ. By the way, I don’t know if Jesus said pastors will not be sick!
Even when the emphasis is on the miraculous, it is an aberration to think that healing through medication is not miraculous.
Medical practitioners administer treatment, but it is God who does the healing. Therefore, all healing is miraculous.
According to John, Jesus’ second miracle in Cana was a miraculous distant healing of the son of a certain royal official.
The official came begging Jesus to come and heal his son, who was close to death. Jesus told him, “You may go. Your son will live.” When the man went home, the son was healed, and it turned out the healing took place at the exact time that Jesus told him his son will live.
In return for what Jesus had done, “the man “and his household believed.”
In the first miracle where he turned water into wine, John says, “He thus revealed his glory and his disciples put their faith in him”(Jn.2:11).
Miracles are intended to reveal the glory of the Divine. When that son was healed the official and his household believed.” Surely, by that healing, Divine glory was revealed.
The Lord Jesus is miraculously healing us from a distance on a daily basis. The Lord Jesus Christ continues to heal us miraculously from a distance each time we pray over a sickness or on medications.
My friend, we should copy the example of the royal official by making intercession for others, asking Jesus to meet them at their points of need. The Lord Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let each of his miraculous acts also be a deep reason for us to put our faith in him.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, reveal your glory through the distant miraculous healing you effect on your sick disciples. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
