“God Of Good And Bad Times!”(Mal.3:13-4:2a).
I opened my WhatsApp this morning only to see images of consuming fire and a voice recording of my Prebyterial Secretary, saying the fire has completely consumed a whole business section at Ntanfoang. The business centre is the old Sunday school and old manse of PC Ntanfoang. Our sympathy goes out to those shop owners. The dust has not yet settled on the gruesome killings of the Chairman of Naka congregation and the CYF president of the same congregation in Bali Presbytery. May their souls rest in peace, and may the LORD be the strength and comfort of the families.
In the face of these calamities, what should we say?
Those who are wise by the standards of this world think they are wise by saying harsh things against the LORD.
The fact that the arrogant are now called blessed; the fact that evil doers prosper, and the fact that those who challenge God escape doesn’t mean that they are favoured of God.
If you have trusted God before, let nothing induce you to start doubting his goodness, mercy, and compassion.
If you doubt God in moments of adversity, then you surely have never put your trust in him.
We have a faithful God who has huge recompense for those with unwavering faith.
Fear the LORD and honor his name so that your name should enter the book of remembrance.
Rough and bad days do not make the whole month ugly and unbearable. As you go after your daily bread, the rain may pour on you, the heat of the sun may become unbearable, even so, do not envy the person enjoying the comfort and warmth of his cozy house. Harvest time comes, and the difference is seen.
To you who fear and honor the LORD, he says, “They will be mine in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them…And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not…All the arrogant and evildoer will be stuble…” They will be destroyed completely, both branch and root. “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings…”
My friend, do not envy an ungodly achiever; rather, focus on the LORD whose justice is never partial, whose steadfast love never changes and whose mercy never comes to an end.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help us to turn our eyes from looking at vanity and fix our eyes on Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
