“The Active Word Of God!”(Heb.4:12-13).
In a jubilant way, a young man told his friends how he had freed himself from all the “dos” and “do nots” of the Bible. His friends wanted to know how he was able to overcome such a herculean task. He replied that he had decided not to read the Bible anymore.
The Word of God is more than mere script. Prophet Jeremiah insinuates this when he says the day is coming when no man shall teach his neighbour to know the LORD because God’s law will be written in each heart.
Ignorance is no excuse before the law – and also before the LORD.
There are faithful illiterate qualified saints who have gone before us. They are saints because they obeyed God without necessarily reading the Bible.
Hebrews says “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
God’s word in a living word, that is why it addresses every generation in time and clime within their specific context. God’s word is a double-edged sword serving as a panacea, correcting, rebuking, and directing, but also vindicating.
God’s word directs to a good conscience as it judges the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts.
Since God is the originator of all creation, nothing can be hidden from his sight – including our thoughts and intentions.
Humanbeing rate us through our actions, but God sees beyond actions to motives.
Whether we choose to be or not to be, we are going to give an account to him!
In this pilgrimage, may we make daily efforts to improve our lives in accordance with God’s word so that on the day we give our accounts, the balancesheets should not contain discrepancies.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit, guide us in God’s word for worthy living in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
