“A Suicide Mission For Our Sake!”(Mk.9:30-32).
All beginnings have their endings. We know that each one of us will someday exit this world. We are mortals; and there is nothing we can do about it.
Make the most of the world while it lasts, but don’t forget that you are a pilgrim.
The question is, “What are you going to leave behind; and to who?”
Jesus decided to devote his last days, teaching his disciples. It was no longer time for teaching the crowd. He had to ensure that the disciples were well-groomed.
His time was up. He was now focused on Jerusalem, for that was where the prophet’s of old were killed.
He knew his journey to Jerusalem was a “suicide mission,” but it was a journey that he had to embark upon because of you and I.
He told his disciples, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.”
Jesus was nonplussed about what was soon to happen to him. He was going to be delivered “into the hands of men, but Jesus knew and believed that he will be in the hands of God.
“But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it.”
He was talking about his betrayal, torture, crucifixion, and burial by the hands of men. He was also talking about the victory over death and the grave through the resurrection and ascension by the hand of God.
Dear friend, there are times your enemies will hand you into the hands of men. Let that not be your worry because you are in the hands of God, who is the Alpha and Omega of your life.
Stay focused and fix your eyes on Christ, abiding by his teaching with the confidence that your life is in God’s hands!
Prayer of the day and week: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for bearing the cross for our sake. Amen!
Welcome to a new working day and week!
Peace be with you!
