“Being Alive To God In Christ Jesus!”
Christ “died to sin once and for all; but the life he lives, he lives for God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
Does this mean that sin ceased to exist with the death of Christ Jesus? Or is it that believers now have the ability to overcome sin? By dieing to sin once for all, Christ Jesus abrogated the old law whereby sin offering was a yearly sacrifice of the blood of animals.
Through the love of God, Christ Jesus took the place of the blood of animals. His death brought grace which is unmerited favour. When we reflect on the life he lived and if we take him as our role model, then we can live without sinning. But can we? Have we? More specifically, can I? Have I?
There is sin by intent and sin by error. There is sin we commit and there is sin by omission. This is to say we go against God when we do what he has asked us not to do, just as we go against him when we fail to do what he has asked us to do!
There is a possibility to live a sin free life. So Paul advises: “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires…For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.” This of course is no license for sin because grace abounds(Rom.8:9-15).
Dear friend, you and I are alive to God in Christ Jesus. This is grace! Let us rejoice in this by abhoring sin and desisting from indulging in it!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you that through you I am dead to sin and alive to God. In my humanness I come before you with a penitent and repentant heart for grace to engulf me. Amen!6
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
