“Is Your Name Written In The Book Of Life?”
The letter to the church in Sardis, just like those to the other six churches is addressed “to the angel of the church…” Every church, institution, organization and individuals have guardian angels charged with the responsibility of ensuring right actions.
Like the believers of Sardis most of us have a reputation of being alive, but are dead. Jesus Christ however provides second chances or even more. As the saying goes, “you never fail until you have stopped trying.”
Having a reputation is usually not reality. Jesus who sees beyond what we project to the public knows differently. So he says, church, “wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God…”
It can never be that bad without some few exceptions. There are always some few “who have not soiled their clothes.” Good for them; but we are not condemned either!
My friend, if you are amongst them, then good for you. If you and I are not amongst them, it is still good for us. We have an opportunity to put things right. Jesus assures, “He who overcomes…I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father…”(Rev.3:1-6).
The musician asks, “Is your name written there, O, O, Oh? Is your name written in the book of life?” Jesus says, if your name is not written in the book of life, then wake up; work for it and make it happen!
Weekend prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus for giving me a second chance so that I can become an overcomer and have my name written in the book of life.Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
