“Available To Be Used For Service!”(Lk.1:26-38)[23/12/2024].
We are again in the season in which we recount the story of the “Immaculate Conception.” It is the story foretelling the birth of Jesus the Savior; but it is also the story of an innocent village girl, highly favored by God.
It is the story of honor, favor, prestige, and elevation, yet it is a story of shame, public disgrace, and humiliation! Imagine a virgin who has been promised in marriage suddenly becoming pregnant. Then, when asked to name who was responsible, she says, “the Holy Spirit came upon me.””
Mary, however, did not consider what the reaction would be if she became pregnant. She only worried that she was a virgin. The angel cleared her doubts that the Holy Spirit will come upon her.
The angel cited the example of Elizabeth, her relative, a barren woman, already in her menopause, but who was six months pregnant.“For nothing is impossible with God.”
Dear friend, God has favored you and intends to do something extraordinary through you. Only submit yourself to God like Mary did. God’s favor will be accompanied by shame and disgrace, never mind. Look beyond the shame and disgrace. Focus on the favor of God and submit like Mary,“I am the LORD’S servant. May it be to me as you have said.”
Prayer of the day and week: Dear LORD, I am your servant. Make me a veritable instrument of your service. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas!
Rev Babila Fochang.
