“Be A Living Stone Built Into God’s Spiritual House!”
God kept his promise and laid a “chosen and precious stone” that “the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” This stone (Jesus Christ) is that same stone which the builders rejected but which in God’s hands has become the cornerstone.
While the stone makes some to stumble and fall, those who trust in the stone are now recipients of God’s mercy.
Just as the rejected stone became God’s chosen and precious stone, so too we are like living stones, being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices which are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
In Christ Jesus God does not consider the dark past from where he has called us to his wonderful light. We are the new Israel, “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that we may declare the praises of him who has called us out of darkness into his wonderful light”
You see my friend, all the animals live in the jungle. Unfortunately some of the animals live in perpetual fear of the animals of prey. There is no true love among the animals. Humanbeings are sometimes worst that these animals of prey! We don’t only kill other humans, but we spend time manufacturing lethal weapons with which to kill our fellow humans.
It should not be so with God’s chosen ones! Peter’s advice is: “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from your hearts. For you have been born again… Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like new born babies, crave pure spiritual milk so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good”(I Pt 1:22-23& 2:1-10).
So to say, let us enjoy our salvation in Christ by being one another’s keeper and “love one another deeply!”
Weekend prayer: Father Almighty, thank you for building me into Jesus Christ your precious cornerstone. Feed me with spiritual milk and let me love others deeply. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
