“Be An Imitator Of God…Live A Life Of Love!”
A cliché we are over-familiar with says, “imitation leads to danger.” Paul would have laughed at such an expression. He writes, “Be imitators of God…” and “as dearly loved children…live a life of love just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Here he cites three vices which are idolatory that may block us from God’s heavenly inheritance: sexual immorality, impurity and greed; which are improper for God’s holy people. Obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking are not exempted.
The week’s reflections have centred on what we were before knowing God’s grace through Christ Jesus and what we have become or must become now that we are in Christ.
The coarse things of the past should no longer be part of us. We “were once in darkness, but now we are the light in the Lord. “We are not just brought out of darkness into light, rather, we are light in the Lord. As such in our daily journey in faith we should live as children of light bearing the fruit of “goodness, righteousness and truth.” Above all we should “find out what pleases the Lord”(Eph.5:1-10). To live each day of your life as being the light is to be a positive change drawing you and others closer to God!
Dear friend, this is realisable when you and I “live a life of love!”
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit fortify me to live as a child of light; to live a life of love and to find out what pleases the Lord and do it. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
