“Cheer Up; The Lord Is Your Comfort!”
My people say “When a mother beats a child she sends the child under the bed; she does not send the child out of the house.” What this means is that since the beating is correctional, the child needs to be protected while s/he is crying. If you send the child to cry outside, you expose her/him to unknown danger (We Africans know that “When you spare the rod, you spoil the child)!
So too is our God! He may bring judgment and punish us for sin, but there is a time of hope. He is a father who when he slaps on one cheek, kisses on another.
It is never as bad as it seems. The other day a sister told me she went to the village and slept peacefully in her house. The following day was a market day, she went to the market and the market was as full as if nothing was happening.
With God it can only be bent, but it is never broken! Even when it is broken, it is never shattered! The pieces can always be mended.
We know what we have passed through; we know what we are passing through, but it is just a sad chapter of a book with a happy ending!
The Lord says, “Rejoice…I will extend peace…like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flowing stream…As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted…When you see this, you will rejoice and you will flourish like grass…”(Is.66:10-14a).
My friend, no matter how bad the situation is now, cheer up! It shall be well! With Jesus Christ in your boat just smile at the threatening storm! There is hope beyond the horizon of hopelessness!
Prayer: Thank you Lord for being my anchor in troubled waves. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
