“Come To Jesus The Bread Of Life!”
We recall that when God appeared to Moses in the burning bush, he told Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” Tell them ‘I AM has sent me to you.'”(Ex. 3:13-14).
The “I Am” became a sacred phrase attributed to God Alone!
As contained in the gospel of John, Jesus said:
“I am the bread of life”(6:48). “I am the light of the world…”(8:12 & 9:5). “I am the gate for the sheep”(10:7,9). “I am the good shepherd”(10:11,14). “I am the resurrection and the life”(11:25).
“I am the way and the truth and the life”(14:6). “I am the true vine, my Father is the gardener”(15:1)& “I am the vine, you are the branches”(15:5).
Our text for today contains one of the “I am” words, “I am the bread of life.” While the ancestors ate manna in the desert and still died, Jesus is the bread of life that came down from heaven.
In his words, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world…I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you…”(6:47-59).
To eat and drink the body and blood of Christ is to believe the testimony of God about his Son. “Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart.” Whoever does not believe makes God a liar.
“God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life”(I Jn. 5:9-13).
My friend, Jesus Christ is the bread of life! Come and buy without money! Fix your mind on Christ and you shall never run out of spiritual nourishment! You will take your mind off mundane things and focus on the things of God! Yes, like the psalmist let us say,” I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’..”(122:1); and if you are on the Lord’s side, then pray for the peace of others!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ be my bread of life so that I may not hunger anymore. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
