“Creating Positive Impact To The Praise Of God!”(Mt.5:13-16).
A man decided to take his life by hanging. His friend intervened just when he was about to put the noose around his neck. His friend asked him why he wanted to die. He told his friend that he didn’t want to live again. The friend asked him, “What do you know about life and living? Have you ever lived?”
We often pass through the motions of life without living. We live when we add value to the lives of others. Living is about creating positive impact. Without positively impacting the lives of others, you are simply passing through life.
Make a difference in life through little deeds of love that add value to the lives of others.
Jesus says, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
I recall when I was teaching African Theology at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Kumba. One of the pastors who came in for a one year degree programme asked me in class, “How is African theology going to be of use to me if I’m sent to work in Europe?” Well, I told him we train pastors to work in Cameroon with Cameroonians, and only once in a while that a few chance to work out of Cameroon, but even so, they still work with Cameroonians.
Impact is not because we have left out locality and go abroad. The Lord Jesus Christ who said, “you are the light of the world knew very little of how large the world was. His knowledge of another country other than Israel was when they took asylum in Egypt. By then he was a child. Jesus did not go beyond Israel as did Paul, but he has impacted the world and continues to do so.
What is important and which creates impact is that at your little corner, let your little deeds of love and your comportment serve as a parameter that will influence those around you to believe in the One you serve.
Shining your light before men is not for self-praise; rather, men should see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven!
Therefore my friend, create positive impact wherever you are to the praise of God through service to humanity.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me always that my motivation should be service and not to seek self-praise. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Prayer point: Pray that children of God should focus on service to humanity as service to God.
Rev Babila Fochang.
