“Crossing Our Red Sea!”(Ex. 14:8-20).
“…Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today…The LORD will fight for you; you only need to be still…”
The above text is in context of the crossing of the Red Sea by the Israelites. “The LORD will fight for you” is one of my backbone scriptures that determines the way I deal with my adversaries.
But while we depend on God to fight for us, what exactly do we expect him to do with those he is fighting against on our behalf?
The ellipsis in the quotation above is intentional because it reads, “The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.” We know what happened next! Pharaoh and all his army drowned in the process of their pursuing the Israelites. Should we actually expect God to destroy our enemies in the process of fighting for us? Perhaps the best way for God to fight for us is to make us skillful – not to be able to box our enemies but to dodge their blows and tire them out.
Our Lord taught us by his own example as, while on the cross he prayed that his father should forgive his killers. By the way, God cannot be killing our enemies while tolerating Satan to live till tomorrow.
The crossing of the Red Sea is also a symbolism of rebirth through baptism.
Our rebirth through baptism should be like the pillar of cloud that brings light to our new life and darkness to the enticing world, so that neither can go near the other in our journey of faith.
Prayer: To you O LORD we submit. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.

“…When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand…”
