“Father God I May Ask For Anything But Give Me Just What Is Good For Me!”
While preparing the minds of his disciples before the exit of his physical presence from this earth, Jesus said, “…I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete…”(Jn.16:23b-28).
We may consider this as a universal truth that not everything that a dependent asks from a benefactor is given; neither can it be true that a benefactor gives just everything that a dependent asks for!
When we place calls, it is either immediately connected or we are told the number has been temporarily switched off. We may be told the number dialled is either not on the network, does not exist, is busy or …” Worst case scenario is when a rude customer service voice tells you “You are not permitted to make this call…,” “The number you dialled is not available, please try again later” but worst still is when you are told, “You do not have enough airtime to make this call…”
There are various reasons why not all calls that are placed have positive feedback! In the same way for obvious reasons, God cannot just at all points in time give you whatever you ask in Jesus’ name!
Of course Jesus also makes it plain that he is “speaking figuratively.” When we read the Bible and when we make our requests to God we must distinguish between figurative and plain languages.
But one thing is sure: God answers prayer when you are not convicted of guilt in regard to sin, when you believe in Jesus which establishes your righteousness and when you do not be part of the prince of this world who already stands condemned.
Rather pray for a discerning mind to know just what to ask from the Father in the name of the Son! However, be sure that God answers prayers whether it favours you or not!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, even though I ask for more, give me just what you know is good for me. Amen!
Welcome to a new working week. Be lessed all through the week! Peace be with you!
