“For The Gospel’s Sake, Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone!”
The deepening crisis within the rank and files of the church is borne out of the simple fact that we have created our “comfort zones” and would not want to exchange it for anything else; except it is for a more comfortable zone. We often become so arrogant for the mere fact that we are in elitist congregations. We tend to think that we are the best. We forget to know that we are harvesting what others planted!
Well established organs of the church that ensured transparent democratic governance are being undermined as we play God and want to hold on, not because we have the interest of the church so much, but because we want to defend and hide the atrocities commited in God’s name for selfish interests!
We think bribery, bullying, threats and manipulations are the ways through which we can continue to deceive the majority so that we can continue to expand our empires at the expense of the sweat of the suffering Christians. We delight in swindling foreign funds given to us to help the internally displaced people and to run some of our institutions! When we use such funds for their intended purposes, it brings healing to the beneficiaries.
My friend, Jesus reminds us today that there is no “comfort zone” in ministry! When Jesus healed many people and cast out demons from many people at Capernaum, the people didn’t want him to leave them.
But Jesus told them: “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” So saying he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea (Lk.4:38-44).
Jesus heals us all because “…by his wounds we are healed”(Is.53:5c), but we do not limit his grace to one location! In other words, there is no comfort zone for any of us! Be always ready to be a messenger of the word. You may be a civil servant transferred to a place you do not like, but just know that it is the Lord sending you there to “preach the good news of the kingdom of God!”
May he give us the strength to drive away the agents of the antichrist who try to hide their diabolic acts by calling others antichrist!
Prayer: Father, thank you for a new week. Holy Spirit, make us ever ready to move on to other towns to preach the good news of the kingdom. Amen!
Welcome back to work! We wish you a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
