“God’s Chosen Servant!”(Is. 44:1-8).
What may quickly come to mind when you hear the word “servant” is “a person who performs duties for others, especially a person employed in a house on domestic purposes or as a personal attendant.”
In most cases a servant is considered as ‘less than human” and at worst, not different from a slave. Notwithstanding that even slaves too have the same colour of blood like freeborns.
The lines of a Mungaka lullaby goes, “If I’m the child of a king he will slaughter a goat; if I’m the child of a slave he will kill a chicken.” Both the king and the slave are lords of their respective families; albeit that the king may rule over a large population.
Back to the “servant” according to God. God’s servant is his chosen one for whom he has concern.
Whoever is God’s servant is his favourite.
While the servant may be chastised for unfaithfulness and disrespect, God’s mercy still abounds for the servant.
In the face of trouble, tribulation, frustration and despair, God gives this assurance: “Forget the former things; do not dwell in the past. See, I am doing a new thing…”(Is.43:10-19).
My friend, are you a chosen servant of The LORD Most High? He is assuring you, “Do not be afraid, my servant…I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants…Do not tremble, do not be afraid…”
Begin the day with confidence in the LORD who is faithful to his words.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am not afraid of my tomorrow because you have assured me of your unfailing love. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
