“God’s Unbounded & Unfailing Love!”(Jn. 3:16-21).
John 3:16 expresses the depth of God’s unbounded and unfailing love of the world he created. By that love is the free offer of salvation to whoever believes in his only begotten son. This means that all are expected to be saved, but it is also already known that some will decline the offer.
Salvation is a free offer to all, but has a condition. Those who believe in the son have eternal life, those who do not believe perish.
By saving some and not all is not being biased, partial or judgmental on God’s part. Terms and conditions apply in every contract or agreement.
It is not God’s fault if some perish. God has not used his son to condemn some and save some. He sent him to save all, but no-one can force-feed anyone who does not want to eat.
The verdict is simple: “Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”
And here is the aberration: Does grace mean if one says, ‘I believe in the son of God’ he is saved without commensurate works of merit? Here is why grace is abused, by considering that now I am saved because Jesus has already carried my sin away! This may be true for original sin, but is it true for presumptuous sin? Not at all!
To say “I believe in the son” and stand fully for your belief is to live by the truth and come out in the light; for Christ is truth and Christ is light. Being in the light should be a deliberate turning one’s back to presumptuous sins.
But since grace supercedes works, God in Christ accepts us as we are, but not to leave us as we are. He takes us as we are to make us what he wants us to become.
Since he did not come to condemn but to save, he says to whoever comes to him: “Go and leave your life of sin.”
Our perfection comes by his decision because he knows and sympathizes with our weaknesses. Let us make daily conscious steps into the light and if you are already in the light, keep basking in it.
Prayer: Holy Spirit prompt us daily to walk in the light of Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
