“Holy Spirit Make Me A Slave To Righteousness…!”
In the World Missionary Council of 1910 missionaries were advised always to ensure that there is something to replace what is taken from the missionized peoples of Africa.
The above fell in line with Jesus’ words in Matthew that “when an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.” Without finding a place the spirit comes back and realise that the old home has not been refilled, “it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first…”(Mtt.12:43-45).
To this effect Paul reminds us that we cannot continue to sin because we are under grace. At one time we were slaves to sin. Now that we are under grace there must be a replacement. We must become slaves “to righteousness leading to holiness”(Rom.6:15-19).
Freedom from sin is not freedom to do as one pleases, but freedom to become slaves to righteousness leading to holiness! It is replacing the slavery which leads to death with the slavery which gives eternal life!
My friend, do not rejoice that you are now saved from sin, rather pray the Holy Spirit to indwell you so that righteousness should command your life this day and the next!
Prayer: Spirit divine fill my being so that I become a slave to righteousness leading to holiness. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
