“Hope In The Lord And Your Strength Will Be Renewed!”
There is none to whom we can compare our God. While idols are made of human hands and placed in the midst of humans, the Almighty “sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy…”
When king Cyrus of Persia took over Babylon, the Babylonians had an idol named Bel. Each day the people offered to Bel four hundred litres of fine flour, forty sheep, and two hundred litres of wine. The king actually believed in the god Bel and used to go and worship him.
Prophet Daniel was one of the king’s closest companions. One day he asked Daniel why he didn’t worship Bel? Daniel replied, “I do not worship idols made with human hands. I worship only the living God, who created heaven and earth and is the Lord of all mankind.”
The king asked if Daniel had not seen the quantity of food and drinks Bel ate and drank each day? Daniel told the king that Bel was nothing more than clay covered with bronze and had never eaten or drank anything.
The end of it is that Daniel laid a trap and caught the priests of Bel who had a secret entrance through which they entered the temple of Bel, together with their wives and children and ate and drank all that was provided to Bel on a daily basis. This was how the king killed the priests of Bel, gave Bel to Daniel who destroyed it( Bel & the Dragon).
Yes, there is none like the Lord our God! “He sits enthroned above the cricle of the earth…He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing…”Even the starry hosts of the sky, God calls them each by name and “not one of them is missing.”
The sum of it my friend is, “submit yourself to the will of God so that he should have his way with you.” “On Christ the solid rock I stand; for all other ground is sinking sand!” “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…they will run and not grow weary…(Is.40:18-31).
Prayer: Awesome God there is none beside you. You are the solid rock on which I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
