“Keep A Moment Of Silence In The Presence Of The Lord!”
While in a group there are times when there is sudden abrupt momentary silence, no matter how rowdy the group may have been. In some African cultures it is believed that at such moments God is passing by. Habakkuk enjoin, “…the Lord is in his Holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him…” The Lord told Elijah to go and stand on the mountain to see the Lord pass by. As Elijah stood there a great and powerful wind came by, after the wind was an earthquake and after the earthquake came a fire, but in all these the Lord was not in any of them. “And after the fire came a gentle whisper…”(I Kgs 19:9b-18).
Yes, God’s presence is felt when we are silent before him even as we pray to him. In his visions of the processes in heaven, John noticed that when the seventh seal was opened so as to burn incense, “There was silence in heaven for about half an hour.” An angel was then “given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden alter before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand”(Rev.8:1-4).
There is need to always withdraw “far from the maddening crowd” so as to have a meditative silence in the presence of the Lord.
Yes friend, meditative silence and the prayers of the saints in the heavenly realm is what brings succour to the members of the body of Christ, the Church militant of which you are a part.
Each time you seek your own welfare in prayer, don’t forget to pray for others! Above all, remember that the prayers of the saints are for you too!
Prayer: Lord strengthen me that while I pray I should listen to your silent voice by being silent in your presence. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
