“Life In The Son Of God!”(1 Jn.5:11-13).
We do not want to explain certain details here or now concerning esoteric fraternities and cults.
If you are discerning, you may have noticed a trend that in some denominations clergy of certain tribal origins and those with close affinities to them all rise to juicy placements – whether they deserve it or not; whether they are tyrants or not.
I’ve once been an eyewitness of what I was not supposed to see of an antichristlike initiation of a prominent church figure. We have seen fetish objects of protection in the possession of top church leaders.
Since rumors are based on truths or half-truths, can we downplay the rumors of church leaders taking death oaths that are typically antichrist in its very essence?
Was it mere rumors that caused some past church leaders to ban the wearing of some kinds of rings by some clergy?
In our local settings, what comes to your mind when you hear of “Nyongo,” “Famlah,” “Kupe,” or for somebody paying a trip to Oku?
In each local setting, you can identify a group of persons belonging to some kind of local esoteric fraternity or cult from where they obtain wealth, power, and the means to rise to prominence.
We do not want to go international in naming those esoteric fraternities and cults that promise and offer wealth, fame, power, etc.
People have the right to belong where they want to belong, but such people, even though they are professing Christians do not believe in the name of the Son of God as the possessor of life that gives eternal life to believers.
And this is where the difference lies: Within the fold are those who believe and those who are mere socialisers.
The main purpose of John’s letter in his own words, “I write this letter to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
A dangerous heresy in the time of John was Gnosticism. In everything, the gnostics did not accept both humanity and the divinity of Jesus as contained on him at once. Also matter was evil, and Spirit was the only way. We cannot be detailed here now.
Suffice for us to know that such antichrist Gnosticism exists in today’s church of Christ in various forms, as exemplified above.
John is writing to you who believe that God has given us a testimony: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in the Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
This life in the Son is a present reality; it is not just something that will happen in the parousia.
My friend, do not pass through the motion of life deceiving yourself that you are living life. The fullness of life is found in Christ alone. Are you with Christ, or are you just socialising within the body of Christ? Take a stand!
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I believe in your name as the Son of God. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
