“Lord, Listen! Lord, Hear And Act! For Your Sake…Do Not Delay…!”
As Christians our help comes from nowhere else than from the Lord our creator, provider, sustainer and sanctifier. We cannot know what God has planned for us, nor the time he has set for us, except through his word.
It was only through the reading of Scriptures that Daniel understood the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah that the desolation of Jerusalem will last for seventy years.
Having known this Daniel “turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.” He “prayed to the Lord God and confessed:…”(Dan.9:1-19)
In his prayer, Daniel recognised that the Lord is great and awesome and that he keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments. Daniel also acknowledged, “all this dissaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth…”
How often do you read the Bible so you can understand God’s timing and plan for our times? Yesterday I quoted the wrong text and many of you in-boxed me to point out the error. I was so comforted to know that you also read the texts before the meditation. Let us be steeped in Scriptures and God who is a covenant keeping God will make us understand the reason for our present predicaments and the time it will take for it to be over!
One thing we are confident of is that “it shall come to pass” and so one day we will say, “And it came to pass!”
To pray like Daniel is not to dress in our most expensive accoutrements but to pray and petition, fast and put on sackcloth and in ashes! The righteous God has shown us the way to go, let us retrace our wandering footsteps and follow the right way! Like Daniel, we do not make requests of God because we are righteous, but because of His great mercy.
Prayer: “Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because we bear your name.” Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
