“Pay More Careful Attention…!”(Heb. 2:1-4).
It’s a new day and as always we look up to the mountain from where our help comes from. Our help comes from the LORD who made heaven ann earth. He has redeemed us through his Son and gifted us with gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
We round up the week of the Holy Trinity with a warning from the author of the letter to the Hebrews that, “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Angel’s spoke and it was binding, and “every violation and disobedience received its just punishment.” God’s word is a double-edged sword.
The message of salvation through Christ is worth more than the message of the angels. Punishment for its disregard or for ignoring it will be unpardonable and inescapable!
The message of salvation does not change and has not changed! The Lord first announced it, was confirmed by those who were not only eyewitnesses, but they heard him. Moreover “God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”
Dear friend, “pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away” is our take home message. If the word is there with you always you may slide, or stumble, but you wouldn’t fall. The word remain a lamp to our feet and a light on our path. Those who trust in the word of God are like Mount Zion which cannot be moved.
Trust and obey by paying more careful attention to the message of salvation.
Weekend prayer: Lord, bury your word in my heart so that I might not sin against thee. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
