“Pursue Righteousness And The Path Of Peace!”
Dear friend, “Karibu!” I bring you warm greetings from Nairobi.
Whenever you find “gatecrashers” know that there is enough to eat and drink. Even some choir groups are known to be more social than spiritual. Whenever such groups have an occasion where there shall be eating and drinking, inactive members become suddenly very much active, all because of food and drinks.
The Roman Christians spent much of their time arguing about clean and unclean food; as if that had anything to add or subtract from their faith. By unclean food they meant food from the shrine of an idol or food in the home of a non-believer!
Such discriminations is unevangelistic because every non-believer is a potential believer provided we win them over in love.
Paul told the Roman Christians, just as he is telling us today, “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification”(Rom.14:17-19).
My friends these three verses brief as they are, are poignant with words that should bind us together. The only way through which our services to Christ are pleasing to God and approved by men is when we pursue righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Don’t do things to seek the approval of men alone, unless it is pleasing to God. For one thing, men applaud the action, but God wieghs and judges the motives!
Prayer: Lord help me to be effortless in my pursuit of peace and mutual edification. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
