“Rejoicing For Our Salvation!”(Is.25:1-9).
When the exodus Israelites saw the war chariots of Egypt in hot pursuit after them, they panicked. Moses told them not to be afraid and to stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will bring to them. “The LORD will fight for you; you need only be still.”(Ex.14:13-14).
When the Israelite army was numbed with fear because of the size of boastful Goliath, the little shepherd boy David stood up to Goliath and told him, “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give all of you into our hands…”(I Sam.17:47).
Carnal man cannot fully grasp the import of the heavily loaded phrase, “the battle is the LORD’S!” The LORD says it is neither by might nor by power, but by my Spirit. We may go to battle, but it is the LORD who fights and gives us victory.
Carnal man may win in the temporal, but such a win is temporary. When the LORD is the commanding officer, he secures victory in the spiritual, and the physical battle becomes a mock battle for his chosen ones.
The fleeting victory of the adversary in the temporal is still the LORD’S decision who uses such adversaries to test the resilience of our faith or as a tool of punishment for our disobedience
Both ways, we are still winners, for it is our father using our adversaries to test the depth of our love and loyalty or to chastise us for obstinacy.
Nemesis soon catches up with those who do not realise that they are mere tools in God’s hands! If only Judas and the religious authorities had known; they wouldn’t have played to the gallery!
Then comes the right time: “In that day, the Lord will punish the powers in the heavens above and the kings on the earth below.”(Jer.24:21).
Once the powers in the heavens are punished, the controllers of power below here are stripped of their dominion and authority.
Then the redeemed of the LORD burst forth in songs of praise: “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago…On this mountain, he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. In that day, they will say, ‘Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.’”
My friend, the victory of Christ over the grave is our salvation. We trusted the LORD, and he saved us through his Son our Lord.
Oh yes; the LORD in his great mercy has given us new birth into “a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that cannot perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time” Let us rejoice; even in the midst of momentary hardships and mishaps.(I Pt.1:3ff). Remember, tough times never last, but tough people do!
Sunday prayer: Thank you, Sovereign LORD, for saving us through Christ our Savior. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
