“Rooted And Built Up In Christ Alone!”(Col.2:2-10).
A heresy that is gaining ground is “misleading theologies.” The All African Conference of Churches(AACC) is making great strides in fighting these misleading theologies.
Misleading theologies include various forms of “Prosperity Gospel,” where it is believed that “seed sowing” brings immeasurable blessings – depending on the size of the seed you sow. There is also the false teaching of “miracle money” where money suddenly enters your phone without any specified known source.
Healing is another area of misleading theology whereby gullible Christians are promised miraculous healing. Tele-evangelists highlight these in various ways.
When the ignorance of believers is preyed upon by self-seekers, it is important to sound a caveat so that people should know the difference.
Our text for today is one such caveat in which Paul was alerting the Colossian believers not to fall prey to heretical manipulations.
Contrary to the heresies, Paul is alerting even us that we may “know the mystery of God, namely, Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” This is important to know “so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.”
It is a thing of joy to be orderly and be firm in our faith in Christ.
We have received Christ as Lord. Let us “continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as we were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Importantly, “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of the world rather than on Christ. For in Christ, all the fullness of Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the Head over every power and authority.”
My dear friend,Christ alone, as we know him from the scriptures, is enough! Do not allow yourself to be misled into error, for if you do, you forfeit your beliefs!
