“Standing On The Promises Of God!”(Is.49:7-18)[01/12/24].
Those whose trust is in the LORD Almighty know that his promises never fail. All that is required of them is hope spiced with confidence and patience to know that the LORD is faithful. Evil days can fall on us. Our adversaries and enemies can mock us, but no sea is ever permanently stormy. There is always a calm after the storm; and surely any storm is soon over.
Listen to “what the LORD says – the Redeemer and Holy One…: ‘To him who was abhorred…in the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a Covenant for the people…'”
The LORD then asks this rhetorical question: “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I WILL NEVER FORRGET YOU! SEE, I HAVE ENGRAVED YOU ON THE PALMS OF MY HANDS…”
Yes my friend, the LORD cannot forget you. Whatever may be troubling you, just know that the storm will be over.
This reassurance from the LORD is not coming to us this morning by coincidence. Today is the first Sunday in Advent being the first of four Sundays that precede Christmas. We are being reminded and reassured of the Messiah’s coming – a coming which though we celebrate as a birthday is also a reminder of the Secong coming of Christ the Savior now coming as Judge. Let us make ourselves ready to receive the Lord with great and joyful expectation.
Sunday prayer: Thank you LORD for the gift of Christmas. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
