“The LORD Is Your Refuge On The Day Of Dissaster!”(Jer.17:12-17).
The prophecies of Jeremiah were bitter pills to swallow. No doubt his life was constantly being threatened. According to the prophet, “Judah’s sin is engraved with an iron tool, inscribed with a flint point, on the tablets of their hearts…” worst still, “…on the horns of their alters…”(Jer.17:1-2).
How could a king and his counselors, and the prelates of the temple like such a prophet? Yet his words came to pass!
Jeremiah did not fail in reminding the people about the compassion of God. The LORD was the hope of the nation. Those who forsake him will be put to shame and those who turn away from him will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the LORD who is the spring of living water.
Because of the accusations against Jeremiah and because of the threats, he from time to time became personal. In today’s periscope he prayed for himself saying, “Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise…”
Even when he was taunted and derided, he reminded the LORD, “I have not run away from being your shepherd…What passes my lips is open before you. Do not be a terror to me; you are my refuge in the day of dissaster.”
My friend, our God has not said we are not going to pass through tough times and evil days; not at all! But we have the assurance that no matter how rough the sea may become, and no matter how high the waves may rise, just remember that with Christ in your boat, the storm is a non-event.
Hold on to your faith and God will remain your refuge in the day of disaster.
Prayer: Thank you Father LORD for being my refuge in the day of disaster. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
