“The Lord Knows Your Needs; He Will Surely Provide!”
To the widow of Zarephath for Elijah to ask her for food was like begging hairs from a snake. It was the peak of famine and drought; but since it was in the will of God, the widow complied to Elijah’s request and gave him the food.
The key word is “obedience to God’s word!” Firstly Elijah obeyed God when he said, “Go at once to Zarephath…I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food.”
Secondly, when the widow wondered where the food would come from, Elijah told her, “Don’t be afraid…For this is what the Lord…says, ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord gives rain on the land.'”
The widow complied, and as a result there was constant supply of food daily “for Elijah, the widow and her family.”
Her food container became a “sea never dry!” “For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord…”(I Kgs.17:7-16).
Yes, on the mountain of the Lord he shall provide. Those who trust in the Lord are like a mountain that cannot be removed.
When you obey the Lord and give even the last of what you have, he will surely replenish you!
Most mportantly of all, God keeps making history through the insignificant people of society! He chose a widow to take care of Elijah instead of the wealthy people of that community.
God used Elijah to provide for the widow all through the period of famine and drought! That is to say God cared for the widow and her son just as much as he cared for Elijah!
My friend, the Lord is about to bless you with abundance, but he is asking you to first bless somebody with the little you have! Would you or wouldn’t you?
Prayer: Let me not be stingy in giving to others – especially stranded strangers – for it is more blessed to give than to receive. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
