“The LORD Your God Is With You!”(Zeph.3:14-18a)[02/12/2024].
Yesterday Sunday I was opportune to be part of a church Service for the “official lunching of Mountain Top Cathedral of Rev Che Wara Solomon’s RCC. When completed the cathedral will have a 15,000 sitting capacity. His Excellency the Governor of the region sat there patiently almost all through the service. In his words, he said he was appointed Governor of the region the same year Rev Che Wara started his ministry in the Congress Hall. Interestingly Che Wara’s case was one of the first complains that landed on his table, etc.
On my part I directed whoever cares to, to read the foreword to the first book Rev. Che Wara wrote. By then he was still a PCC pastor, pastor in Baforkum. By this time he was already having challenges with the church in regard to his practice of ministry. Back to the foreword I wrote. I parodied the words of Gamaliel to the Sanhedrin when the apostles were brought before the Council. He said, “Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men…I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God” (Acts 5:17ff).
Yesterday I witnessed the fulfillment of that prophecy. Delegates of RCC came from USA, Dubai, Equatorial Guinea and from all over their branches in Cameroon. We are not encouraging schism in the body of Christ, but as Rev Teddy Kangong put it there, the Holy Spirit cannot function by the direction of men. How else do you know that the Holy Spirit is working in us than through the fruits!
Preaching on the occasion the pastor captioned his message, “Hope for the future,” identical to my own caption of the same day, “Standing on the promises of God!”
The coming of Christ into the world is the bedrock of hope. One of the little known prophets, Zephaniah has a three chapter prophecy. The prophecies are about God’s imminent judgment. But the last few verses are full of hope, asking the people to rejoice because the time of purification, restoration and salvation is at hand.
Yes, let us rejoicec for the LORD’S anger lasts only for a while. Let us redirect our focus on the cross, the symbol of God’s unending love. Take this assurance from him: “The LORD your God is with you.”
Prayer of the day and week: For the assurance of your constant presence we thank you LORD. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed working day and week!
Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
