“The LORD’S Eternal Salvation!”(Is.51:4-6).
We are still in the season of Christmas in which we continue to celebrate the salvation the LORD has wrought for us through the incarnation of Jesus the Christ.
What the LORD has done is permanent; it is not ephemeral. The LORD himself declares: “The heavens will varnish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness never fail.”
The prophets of old were always conscious of this. Whatever punishment Israel suffered as a result of their sins, there was always hope beyond the horizon. “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”(Lam.3:22-23).
The LORD is that African mother who beats the child but pushes him under the bed for protection. The mother who beats a child and sends him outside is exposing the child to witches. Our God is full of compassion.
God’s love is eternal, and his salvation has come to stay, so we have the blessed assurance that Jesus is ours because it is for our sake that he came.
God’s eternal salvation is accompanied by his righteousness, which by itself is an integral part of justice. This means beneficiaries of his salvation must be desirous of justice and righteousness.
Therefore, as we keep hope alive, let us also be lovers and seekers of the LORD’S justice and righteousness.
Prayer of the day and week: Dear LORD, let your justice become a light to our darkness. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week ! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
