“Walking Before The LORD In Integrity Of Heart…!”(I Kgs.9:1-9).
Upon completion of the temple the LORD appeared to Solomon and said, “I have heard the prayer and plea you have made me; I have consecrated this temple…by putting my name there forever…As for you, if you walk before me in integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne over Israel…But if you or your sons turn away from me and do not observe the commands and decrees I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship then, then I will cut off Israel from the land…and reject this temple…Israel will then become a byword and an object of ridicule…”
My friend, God is faithful and does not go back on his words. Solomon has been hailed as the wisest king that ever lived, but how wise was he and for how long?
Not long after God made this promise to Solomon, it is recorded, “So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the LORD; he did not follow the LORD completely, as his father had done”(I Kgs.11:6).
It came to pass that at his death after forty years reign the LORD kept his word by taking ten tribes of Israel and gave them to Jeroboam and left just Judah to Rehoboam who succeeded his father Solomon.
The LORD allowed Judah just so that the bloodline of David should continue the monarchy in fulfillment of God’s promise to David.
What we are trying to explain is that it is the end which matters.
The fact that God has heard your prayer and approved your deeds today does not make his approval permanent. There is continuity of his approval only in so far as we keep his commandments and obey them.
No doubt his grace alone is sufficient for us, but obedience as a response to grace is a continuous requirement.
My friend, the LORD will hear your prayer and will respond to you, but keep your own side of the bargain by walking in integrityof heart and uprightness.
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit prompt me constantly to walk according to the LORD’S requirements. Amen!
Welcome to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
