“Watch Your Words; But Above All, Watch Your Thoughts!”
The venom that is being spilled out by Christians these days against each other only go to confirm that we are indeed “brood of vipers!” Apart from the actual venom spilled out by those who do not have “language etiquette,” there is the subtle spilling through what psychologists call “projection.” “Projection is a form of defense in which unwanted feelings are displaced onto another person, where they then appear as a threat from the external world. A common form of projection occurs when an individual, threatened by his own angry feelings, accuses another of harbouring…” These reveals itself very prominently these days with eclectic readings of texts whereby readers intentionally select biblical texts which see others as “devils, liers – true children of their father the devil, enemies of truth, etc!
Everybody says we should avoid “hate speech!” Yet everybody uses hate speech to ask for the avoidance of hate speech! Today, more than ever before the mouth is speaking the overflow of the heart!
We can be able at all times to camouflage our hearts with sweet, smooth talks because “speech was given to us to conceal our thoughts!”
The fact that a tree is known by its fruit does not mean that without the fruit the tree is something other than what it is! Our words and even our actions are determined by our thoughts! Think proper thoughts and be slow of speech because your words are a reflection of what you have internalised!
So therefore, let your thoughts be pure because your words will always reveal who you truly are! And on the basis of those words you will be acquitted or condemned!(Mtt.12:33-37).
Sunday prayer: Holy Spirit purify my thoughts so that my words and actions may be a reflection of what I have internalized. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
